An Indian Inspired Kitchen

Our Story

We met when we were only 15. Two kids, dreaming separate dreams, but dreamers together we were. One wanted to be a cricketer but when that looked improbable, he chose his next best passion, cooking. The dream now was to be a chef and travel the world with his cooking. The other wished to become a radio broadcaster and so she did. Still, The Pukka Peacock has been in our mind's eye for over 15 years and now, here we are, making one of our shared dreams, a reality!

Welcome to our independent, family owned and managed restaurant. You can look forward to some truly special food; freshly cooked, home-style, flavourful Indian Inspired combinations, that will leave you saying 'wow'!

Our menus will focus on local & seasonal ingredients. And just to keep things always fresh and exciting for both you and our nerdy chef / owner Dhayalan Paul, expect a menu change every month, if not sooner! He's always putting together new dishes in our home kitchen; it's now time to bring these yummies to you!

With sustainable living very close to our hearts, a lot of the furniture and equipment at the restaurant is pre-loved and in great nick. And with a desire to remain as local as possible, supporting other local artists and friends, some of our bowls are creations of the wonderful & talented Claire and our artisan sourdough, comes from Brislington Hill's 'Dough'. The skilled team that has helped turn around the old Butcher's into our restaurant, are also local. And none of this would have been possible without our amazing Brislington / St. Anne's friends.

So Welcome to The Pukka Peacock; we cannot wait for you to walk in the door! Being a small, 20 cover restaurant, we encourage you to please pre-book your table and look forward to a happy time, with our warm attentive team ready to serve you, while you enjoy a delicious Pukka meal. With a child of our own, we completely understand the challenge of a dinner out on a school night! We're solving this via our 5pm dinner seating, with a children's menu in tow. Some home-cooked classics for our little guests to enjoy, while you parents & guardians dig into another 'Pukka Peacock' delight. After all, The Pukka Peacock is about love, a love in serving you good, wholesome food and a love of family & friends, both old and new, without whose support we wouldn't be here today.

“We absolutely loved the delicious Pukka Peacock food that we ate at their pop-up event in June. The vegan options we sampled, were incredible - we've been dreaming about the crispy okra & mushroom filo, ever since. And the thing which made it even better, was the warm welcoming environment created by Saritha & Dhayalan, who clearly put their heart into their cooking!"
