The Chef

Dhayalan Paul, the Chef and Co-Owner of The Pukka Peacock, is a passionate and warm human being who brings these characteristics into his food. He has been cooking since the age of 7 in his home kitchen. He has spent the last 20 years travelling, cooking and living in different countries and cities across India, the UAE and the UK. Dhayalan has climbed the rungs as a trained professional chef, learning from, and honing his skills, with each new restaurant adventure. In 2012, he was profiled in Chrissie Walker's Book -  'Capital Spice', as one of the best, London-based chefs, at the time.

A chef-led restaurant business comes with many advantages. Consistency, the strongest commitment to quality ingredients & sustainable sourcing, a unique style and  design to every plate, and of course, endless creativity and loads of fun. And the focus remains on delivering true and honest flavours in exciting combinations, that make for a satiating, value for money meal. Happy guests are the ultimate prize.

From his lived & loved experiences of launching and operating successful restaurants, across continents, it's NOW his time to do it for himself, his family & for Bristol, the place he now calls home. Brislington's up and coming Sandy Park Road, is where this next chapter is at!

A Family Run Restaurant

Now Saritha, the other half, can barely fry an egg without setting off the smoke alarms! But here's the thing - her mother is one amazing cook, whose food, together with Chef's own mum's dishes, have inspired both Dhayalan and herself for years. Also, Saritha is no dummy to running an enterprise, where the focus is squarely on people . Now doesn't she make for a more than half decent partner to Chef Dhayalan at The Pukka Peacock?! :-)

Saritha is the founder / director of a social enterprise that works with setting up community radio stations for rural and isolated community groups in her home country, India. A proud alum of The School for Social Entrepreneurs, London, Saritha now joins her husband and partner of a gazillion years (they met when they were 15!) in bringing this little, warm, happy place with delicious food, to life.

"Dhayalan & I, wouldn't be here today, if not for family and friends - both old and new, who have stood by us through some of the most unexpected challenges life has thrown our way! THANK YOU to each & every one of you. Because here we are, solid & grounded enjoying the journey, taking it one day at a time, looking ahead with excitement & hope".

And the family only grows bigger and stronger, with a team of amazing staff at The Pukka; - some rookies, but passionate & committed to learn on the job; and some seasoned professionals, teaching, and learning some more, as they go along. All of us look forward to welcoming you to our restaurant and giving you an experience to remember...

With love, Team - 'The Pukka Peacock'
